The smart web site, www.smartusa.com
is a straightforward site, easy to navigate and it answers a lot of the
questions about the mini-car that one might expect — price,
safety, top-speed, estimated fuel mileage, availability, history, etc.
If
desired, you can build the car you wish via a nifty, interactive
exterior-interior color schematic. The smart web site also has another
cool feature, allowing buyers to reserve a vehicle. The reservation fee
is $99. When you purchase a vehicle, the reservation fee goes toward
the purchase price.
Here are some quick facts and figures about the smart
* The Fortwo is 106 inches long;
* Nearly 3 1/2 feet shorter than a Mini-Cooper;
* Less than one-third as wide as a Lincoln Navigator is long;
* Has a passenger compartment protected by a steel cage;
* The Smart Car's base price for the Fortwo is expected to be around $12,000.
