One month after the Cash For Clunkers program gave the auto industry a boost, the monthly statistics for U.S. sales for September showed an enhanced return to traditional sales figures.
The Ford F-150 dominating sales across the country. Toyota (Camry, Corolla/Matrix), Honda (Accord, CR-V) and Chevrolet (Silverado, Impala) all have two vehicles among the top 10.
And the Toyota Prius continued its popularity increase and was the 11th country's 11th best-selling car in September.
The Cash For Clunkers program ended on August 26. It resulted in 690,114 dealer transactions submitted requesting a total of $2.877 billion in rebates.
At the end of the program, Toyota accounted for 19.4 percent of sales, followed by General Motors (17.6 percent), Ford (14.4 percent), Honda (13.0 percent) and Nissan (8.7 percent. Here are the country's top-20 best-selling cars and trucks in September by units sold:
