What the driver didn't become aware of is that the admittedly odd split rear window puts a bar just where the SOB who is driving with his brights on would otherwise be right in your rearview mirror--a welcome oddity.

As someone who has owned a 2010 Prius for 3 months I was surprised at this article. The acceleration and smooth, quiet drive sold me on this car. The reverse beep can be cancelled at a Toyota dealership and the rear view is not troubling in any way - in fact the small partition between the top and bottom window is perfectly located to block the headlights of most cars traveling behind you. And as far as the brakes go your writer is completely wrong. I have had three occasions when I had to stop quickly. Each time I couldn't believe how responsive and quickly the car came to a stop.
After driving owning some 15 vehicles I can easily say this is the best car I've owned. It feels solid in the city and on the highway. It handles with ease and features like the keyless entry and start are absolutely great. Now I find driving any other vehicle cumbersome and sloppy.
Your journalist needs to understand the vehicle he is assessing instead of just shooting from the hip. Very poor.
