Rachel Veitch is s 90-year-old woman who knows her way around cars, back roads and hand guns. All of which come in handy when she's driving her 1964 Mercury Comet.
Veitch, who lives in Orlando, Fla., has driven her Comet Caliente nearly 600,000 miles on its original engine. It's outlasted her three husbands and it's withstood countless oil changes, more than a dozen batteries and a half-dozen replacement shock absorbers.
Veitch recently drove to more than 3,000 miles round trip to Pennsylvania and back her 70th high school reunion — by herself. She carried her concealed hand gun (she has a permit) with her for safety.
The Comet, which Veitch bought now for an estimated $1,300, is now 45 years old. Veitch, who calls the car Chariot, has no intentions to stop driving. She said her daughter believes if the car stops running so will its owner.
For now, it doesn't appear that will soon. Check out the video of Veith and her 1964 Mercury Comet below.
